At 3:22 p.m. Saturday, astronauts finished the first of 2 emergency spacewalks, to remove and replace an ammonia pump module that failed July 31. However, the astronauts fell behind schedule as one of the pump's hoses remained stuck in-place on the International Space Station.
The hose was finally freed, which resulted in a "snowstorm" of leaking ammonia. As time ran-out on the 8-hour spacewalk, the hose was left in-place. Repairs are scheduled to continue on a second spacewalk Wednesday morning.
