Laser Satellite to Defend Earth from Asteroid Impacts?


DE-STAR — a giant laser in orbit takes aim, 
and in a few months it vaporizes an approaching asteroid. And when it’s done, it 
wheels around to propel a robotic probe to another star. Two California professors see this as a realistic future possibility.
